Ready for the Table
Today, I revised What the Cardinal Flower Protects. Most of those changes went into the climactic confrontation in the final scene. I can now declare the 5.5e-compatible version ready for a playtest. My group sits down to roll some dice for it on Sunday.
The final scene takes place in and around Fiona's willow-house. Although combat is always an option, the party can build a case instead. Drawing on everything they learned in Sedgewick, the players can attempt to sway the enigmatic Censor. I'm looking forward to hearing about this from the playtesters' perspective! The town scene is another one I'm watching. I want to find out whether the four NPCs in Sedgewick drag at the table.
Back in my Meet the Censor post, I asked whether her hairpin was something she bought or something she was given. I decided her mentor gave her this lavish gift when he chose her as his personal pupil.
I also have new art! Viviana Moyano (@saironwen), who also painted the watercolor flowers for Watermint's interior, completed a set of marsh plants for Cardinal Flower: common reed, sea club rush, shrubby sea-blite, two kinds of grass, and the cardinal flower itself. I'm so happy about this! It really makes the books feel like a pair.
One more thing. The Daggerheart™-compatible edition of Where the Watermint Grows comes out this week. Same naiad, same backward-flowing river, now on a new system.
Have you ever talked your way out of a fight your GM was sure you'd have to take?
Currently in development. I'll post more soon!
